About & Methodology
The Institute of Commodities was founded to strip away the noise of retail financial media and provide unvarnished, data-first analysis of physical and derivative raw material markets.
Our Core Philosophy
Commodity markets are inherently structural. Unlike equities, which can trade on sentiment and PE expansion for decades, raw materials are grounded in physics, geology, and logistics. When a physical deficit occurs, price is the only mechanism that can destroy demand. We focus entirely on these structural supply/demand imbalances.
Data Sourcing & Integrity
We do not rely on AI-generated summaries or secondary news reporting. Our models and articles are built using primary sources:
- CFTC Commitment of Traders (COT): Sourced directly from weekly regulatory filings.
- Exchange Data: Settlement prices, open interest, and term structure sourced from CME Group, ICE, and LME daily reports.
- Inventory Data: EIA (Energy Information Administration) weekly petroleum status reports and LME warehouse stock data.
No Sponsored Reviews
Our broker directory is entirely independent. We do not alter rankings, obscure margin requirements, or hide counterparty risks based on affiliate relationships. We review execution venues based solely on their merit for institutional and retail traders.
